The Princess & the Privateer – Nice space adventure.
Although it has quite a military setting I would say it is more a swashbuckling space adventure (yes there are pirates) than pure military science fiction.
Welcome to my personal hobby blog where I ramble about books, movies, computers, gadgets and anything else that I felt like rambling about.
Please note that this is just a hobby for me and these are my personal opinions about various subjects. I do not aspire to be a professional reviewer so if you do not like my opinions that’s too bad but there are surely other blogs out there for you in that case.
And below you find the latest ramblings in chronological order…
-
The Call of Honor – Very good except the crappy cliffhanger ending.
Time for another little war in the Empire Rising series. This book starts the second Karacknid war story arc. Read more
-
The Worst Rescuers in the Republic – Enjoyable space adventure.
It is not really a comedy but there is quite a lot of humor in these books. The core of the story is a (unbelievable) twisting adventure though. Read more
-
The Muppet Christmas Carol – Good but Scrooge is not “scroogie” enough.
Well, of course me and the kids had to watch some Christmas movie on Christmas and since most things coming out of Hollywood these days is woke crap this years choice fell on The Muppet Christmas Carol. Read more
-
Late Christmas present to me from me.
I got myself a late Christmas present today. Read more
-
Completed my Reading Challenge!
Completed my Goodreads reading challenge the other day and with about a week to spare. Read more
-
Katie Kincaid: Admiral – Okayish.
This book is no different. It is just enough to keep my interest at a level were I probably will read the next one when it comes out. Read more
-
Meg 2: The Trench – I liked this one better than the first.
I very barely gave the first movie three stars but this one, I was tempted to give it four but I stopped at three and a half. Read more
-
Mediocre urban fantasy clean-up.
These three books are simply mediocre, thirteen on a dozen, urban fantasy books that I, quite frankly, cannot be bothered to make full reviews of. Read more
-
Debt of Deceit – Very good military sci-fi.
This series, Empire Rising, do not disappoint. Well, there has been one book in the series, Mutineer, that got a two star rating from me due to way too much political shenanigans, but apart from that it is a four to five star series. Read more
-
War of the Liberator – Quite enjoyable 2nd book in the series.
This was a quite enjoyable continuation of the first book in the Taken to the Stars series. Read more
-
Dumb Luck and Dead Heroes books 1 to 3 – Fairly okay but with a few issues.
Overall these three “books” are not too bad. I did enjoy reading them even though they had a few issues. I put “books” in quote because they are really closer to short stories than books weighing in at between 136 to 148 pages. Read more
-
Oppenheimer – Disappointed actually.
I was actually looking forward to watch this movie. Unfortunately I have to say I was rather disappointed when the movie came to an end. Read more
-
Stand on Xanadu – This series is continuing strong.
Another good book in the The Lunar Free State series. Read more
-
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts – Okayish.
It is an okayish movie but I have to say that I was less impressed with this one than with the previous ones. Read more
-
Necromancy in New Orleans – A quite good one.
This was a quite good book in the series. A strong 3 1/2, almost four star book Read more
-
Taken to the Stars – Fairly enjoyable fast read.
If I should describe this book in few words it would be science fiction adventure. I would say that this first book would be a good pilot episode for a TV show. Read more
-
Through the Storm – As fun as the previous book in the series.
As with the previous book in the series this book is quite geared for the gaming community. Still other people might, or will even probably, like it. Read more
-
Fast X – Completely ludicrous but fun movie.
This was, of course, a totally ludicrous movie devoid of any pretense of realism or intelligence when it comes to basic science and physics from the script writers. It was however, also a quite fun movie. Read more
-
Regeneratus – Good (final?) book in the series.
This was a good book in the series. For me this series has been alternating between the and four (barely) stars. This is another four (barely) stars one. Read more
-
Flame and Fortune – Okay instalment in the series.
Another enjoyable book in the A Miss Fortune Mystery series although, if I should be honest, I felt like I enjoyed this book just a tad less than the previous books in the series. Read more
-
Small round-up.
This is a small round-up of the last three books I have read. The reason I make a round-up of it is, for once, not because I am getting backed up with reviews but because these books are all 10+ books into book series that I read and they are really more of the same… Read more
-
Fever – Another great Monster Hunter Memoirs book.
This first book in what I assume is the start of a new trilogy introduces Chloe Mendoza as the main protagonist. As one would expect of a monster hunter, especially one being the main character in a Larry Correia book, Chloe is all kick-ass with a side order of snark. Read more
-
The Silent Hand – Meh, not my cup of tea.
What I got was something that was dragged down with lots and lots of politics, bizarre family customs and behaviors and what appeared to be constant flash backs between present and Inga’s training. Read more
-
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 – It is really a superhero comedy.
I did indeed enjoy this movie but I have to say that I would have enjoyed it even more if it had not been such a comedy superhero movie. Read more
