Princess Gizel Series Books 2 to 5 – Not without issues but I really liked this series.
Obviously I like this series. It is a mix of space adventure and military science fiction. Good heroes, good story, some space fleet action, a lot of running around (a lot of it undercover) kicking bad guys behinds and some not too intrusive romance.
Welcome to my personal hobby blog where I ramble about books, movies, computers, gadgets and anything else that I felt like rambling about.
Please note that this is just a hobby for me and these are my personal opinions about various subjects. I do not aspire to be a professional reviewer so if you do not like my opinions that’s too bad but there are surely other blogs out there for you in that case.
And below you find the latest ramblings in chronological order…
-
Flame and Fortune – Okay instalment in the series.
Another enjoyable book in the A Miss Fortune Mystery series although, if I should be honest, I felt like I enjoyed this book just a tad less than the previous books in the series. Read more

Small round-up.
This is a small round-up of the last three books I have read. The reason I make a round-up of it is, for once, not because I am getting backed up with reviews but because these books are all 10+ books into book series that I read and they are really more of the same… Read more
-
Fever – Another great Monster Hunter Memoirs book.
This first book in what I assume is the start of a new trilogy introduces Chloe Mendoza as the main protagonist. As one would expect of a monster hunter, especially one being the main character in a Larry Correia book, Chloe is all kick-ass with a side order of snark. Read more
-
The Silent Hand – Meh, not my cup of tea.
What I got was something that was dragged down with lots and lots of politics, bizarre family customs and behaviors and what appeared to be constant flash backs between present and Inga’s training. Read more
-
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 – It is really a superhero comedy.
I did indeed enjoy this movie but I have to say that I would have enjoyed it even more if it had not been such a comedy superhero movie. Read more

Big (65″) upgrade to my Home Cinema rig.
So when I found out that FNAC actually had the very latest OLED+ (MLA OLED in most other manufactures vocabulary) 65 inch TV from Philips at a 300 Euro discount that made enough of a poor excuse for me to make some serious damage to my bank account. Read more
-
Saints – Absolutely great book from two great authors.
This is a really great book from two great authors. I had so much fun reading this one. My only complaint would be that it did not last long enough. Read more
-
The Amber Project – Nope, this one did not work for me.
This one did not work for me. The blurb sounded interesting and I have like quite a few books by this author but in the end I was rather disappointed by this book. Read more
-
A Defender Rises – Not great but not bad.
Like the previous book, Mystical Alley Groove, that I reviewed just before this book is also written by T.R. Cameron and Martha Carr. Both books are urban fantasy, no surprise there, but I felt I enjoyed this book more than Mystical Alley Groove. Read more
-
Mystical Alley Groove – Duh, I guess it was okay-ish.
The problem is that I never really found much interest in the story or felt like really rooting for any of the characters or what actually happened. Read more
-
Judgement Day – Good book but more science and less military fiction.
It is a good book there is no doubt about that. Still, I have to say that I liked the classical military science fiction at the beginning of the series more. Read more
-
Intellectus: Origins Discovered – Okay book in the series.
There is the usual, magic slinging, banter, ass-kicking and so on and so forth. It is a light but fun read with plenty of action. Read more
-
Wild Moon – Weird entry in the series, okay but not more.
It has been a long time since I read a book in this series. Overall I have liked the series. It is one of these series that does not go overboard with sensation and uber powerful creatures instead of creating good stories. Read more
-
Another asshat is at it again.
I normally do not write about political bullshit. If I should write a post every time some dumbass politician said something stupid or engaged in some of their usual asshattery screwing up life for normal working citizens I wouldn’t do anything else and there are easier ways to get an ulcer. Read more
-
Microcrap is at it again!
It has been a some time since one of my rants so I think it is about time for another one of them. Read more
-
The Super Mario Bros. Movie – More for the fans than the general audience.
For myself , this felt very much like a movie made for Super Mario Bros fans and less for the general audience. Read more
-
The Never Ever War – The Lunar Free State kicks ass… again!
The books in this series are really good. The characters are mostly very likable. The story is well done and the action, especially the fleet action, is excellent. Read more
-
Heavy is the Crown – Backyard Starship keeps going strong.
This book continues with the usual bantering between Van and his friends, investigations and outbursts of action. Overall it is a quite enjoyable read. Read more
-
Swamp Sweets – More of the same which is good.
This book is pretty much more of the same which in this case is good, very good. Do not try to fix that which is not broken as they say. Read more
-
Operation Liberty – Another good one.
Another good entry in The Last Hunter series. The story continues and there are much to like in the book, as was the case for the the previous books. Read more
-
Rise of the Giants – Somewhat original decent read.
Overall, I liked the book. It is an easy read focusing a lot on the action bits but still it does not forget to have a interesting story to move everything forward. Read more
-
Jack Rhodes Chronicles book 1 to 3 – Somewhat lousy start but on the whole entertaining reading.
The books are not very deep on the science part but they are not too much fantasy either. I quite like Jake & Co. They are cool. I like their adventures which generally ends up in a whole lot of bad guy ass-kicking. Read more
-
Sorcery in San Francisco – Okay instalment in the series.
This is a decent enough instalment in the series. It is not great but decent. Read more

New site look, thanks to the asshats at WordPress.
It’s not exactly a secret that I think the “new” Wordpress sucks since I wrote a post about it a while ago when they did a Microsoft (Nadellasoft) and pissed on all their non-enterprise users and showed their awful “block editor”, also called Gutenberg, down everyone’s throats. Read more
