The Lone World – Discovery, mystery and military sci-fi fusion.
It is a good book. As always Christopher Nuttall produces quality writing. Continue reading The Lone World – Discovery, mystery and military sci-fi fusion.

Christopher Nuttall is one of my top favorite authors. With this particular book he is starting a new series and it is a really good start indeed. Continue reading The Chimera Coup – This was a really good start of a new series.
This is another good book from one of my favorite authors, Christopher G. Nuttall. Continue reading All for All – Good book in the Cast Adrift series.
Overall this was a very good, close to great, book and I’m looking forward to the next instalment in the series. Continue reading Endeavour – Another good book in the Ark Royal series.
Time for another my Latest Reads post to clean up some of my backlog of unreviewed books. Continue reading My latest reads…again.
This is a good book in the Ark Royal series but then all books in this series has been good to very good. Christopher Nuttall is a very good writer of science fiction and fantasy Continue reading Drake’s Drum: Another good book in the Ark Royal series.
This was one of the best books in the series in quite some time. Continue reading Oathkeeper: One of the best books in the series in a long time.
This was a very good start of a new series from Christopher Nuttall. I quite like stories where humanity takes there first steps towards being serious actors in the galactic arena. Continue reading Cast Adrift: Very good new series from Christopher Nuttall.
I quite liked this instalment in the Schooled in Magic series. With Emily becoming Void’s apprentice it felt like the series went back to it’s roots. Emily being a student again instead of galloping around playing with politics and social change. Continue reading The Artful Apprentice: Good book, improvement over the previous.
A decent book but I cannot say I was ecstatic about it. Sometimes I wondered if almost 20 books in this series is enough or even too much. To me, this book felt a bit like a (complicated) side show which didn’t really move any form of main story arc or the characters forward. Continue reading Mirror Image: At least Emily has her powers back.
Christopher Nuttall is one of my favourite authors so it is rather unusual that I don’t like one of his books. Unfortunately this book is one of the exceptions. Continue reading Debt of War: Not my cup of tea.
This is the 16th book in the Ark Royal series by Christopher Nuttall and I’ve read them all. Pretty much all of them have been 4 or 5 star ones with only two in the 3 star range. Continue reading Fighting for the Crown: Good entry in the Ark Royal series.
Ark Royal is a great military science fiction series by one of my favorite authors, Christopher Nuttall, and this is another good book in the series. Continue reading The Right of the Line: Good, solid military sci-fi.
I also have to say that I have been quite saddened lately by the fact that the author struggles with cancer. Despite being under, from what I understand, heavy treatment he is still able to churn out books at a respectable rate. I wish him all the best. The book world would be lesser without him. Continue reading Cry Wolf: I liked it but…
The current Ark Royal story arc is good solid military science fiction with, as the book blurb states. a divided humanity against an alien foe with a very unusual twist. Continue reading Para Bellum: Another great military sci-fi book in this series.
I really liked this book, the twelfth installation in the Ark Royal series. All the books in this series have been good to great with most of them in the latter end of the range. This one was definitely a great one. Continue reading Invincible: Excellent military sci-fi adventure.
This book is kind of a extra or bonus story to the Ark Royal main story arc. While the book does not really advance the main story arc in any way it was still a very enjoyable read. Definitely a full set of stars worth of read. Continue reading The Longest Day: Very good “bonus” story in the Ark Royal series.
This is the second installment in The Zero Enigma series by Christopher Nuttall. The Zero Enigma is a series with a magical fantasy world where the main protagonist has…zero!…magic. Continue reading The Zero Curse: Another solid fantasy novel from C. Nuttall.
This book focuses on a single ship and it’s crew following their adventures after having been royally screwed far from home by untrustworthy aliens and now have to sneak, claw and fight their way back. It is quite an entertaining read. Continue reading The Long Road Home: A nice little space adventure.
Well, I have said before that I do prefer the books where Emily is back at Whitehall and that is exactly what I got in this book. But…I got it in the form of a soap-opera-at-Whitehall kind of story which was a bit of a bummer for me. Continue reading The Gordian Knot: Soap opera at Whitehall
Now, as I wrote above, it is a good and well written story. If you like this kind of story you will find the book excellent. Personally I liked the original Ark Royal story better. It is more about the war, the aliens and action. This one was not so much my cup of tea. Continue reading The Cruel Stars: Not as god as the other books in the series.
This is a very good book indeed. However, although it follows nicely in the timeline of Emily’s adventures, it did feel a bit like a interlude, a little adventure story before Emily continues her education and moves on with the main story arc. Continue reading Fists of Justice: Felt a bit like a interlude.
This is an excellent book and a good end to the series. I was in two minds what rating I should give but in the end I decided that anything less than five out of five would be undeserved. Continue reading Wolf’s Bane: Good ending to a good series.
The books is as excellently written as the previous ones. Great characters, good action and just the right amount of “glue” tying the various bits and pieces together. From a technical point of view this book is just as good as the other ones in the series. Continue reading Desperate Fire: Every good thing has to come to an end…
