Here are some notes on some of my latest reads that I simply cannot find enough time to make full reviews on (or were not interesting enough that I can be bothered).

Trinity (Feathers and Fire, #9) by Shayne Silvers.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars.
Decent enough book but things are starting to get a bit repetitive. The story is really going overboard with all uberpowerful magical Gods and creatures. It’s just too much. It’s starting to feel like a script for a Marvel movie. Also, the author is going too far down the road of urban sex for my taste.

True Dead (Jane Yellowrock, #14) by Faith Hunter.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars.
Not bad but not great. Pretty meh actually. I liked these books better when Leo, the master of New Orleans’ vampires was around and the story was somewhat less grandiose in scope.

The Family Business by Mike Kupari.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars.
Another book that’s not bad but which never managed to give me that “hey, this is good” feeling. I didn’t really feel like I cared much about the main protagonist and the story was a bit weird and convoluted.

School for Reluctant Witches by Auburn Tempest, Carolina Mac.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars.
Takes way to long to get started and when it does it’s really not that good. The story is messy with a lot of talk, talk, talk and unrelated stuff.

Gunboat Diplomacy (The Empire of Bones Saga, #14) by Terry Mixon.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars.
Good but not as good as the rest of the books in the series. Too much alternate universe stuff, story too spread out and not enough old-fashioned capital ships-slugging-it-out stuff.

Iron Hand (Battlegroup Z, #5) by Daniel Gibbs.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars.
Decent read but I liked these books better when they were facing a real enemy and not sneaking around searching for pirates and unraveling despicable conspiracies. Also the book is really dragged down by this ridiculous moral posturing. It’s a bloody war, you do what you have to do to save your people for Christ sake.
