Although I did enjoy reading this second installment in the Chronicles of an Urban Elemental series it has not yet found its groove as far as I am concerned. Continue reading Magicae: Power Dawning – Still fledgling to get on track.
Christopher Nuttall is one of my top favorite authors. With this particular book he is starting a new series and it is a really good start indeed. Continue reading The Chimera Coup – This was a really good start of a new series.
Another good book in the series. This book is pretty much more of the same compared to the previous books and, in this case, that is good. Continue reading Severed Ties – Another good book in the series.
This is another Spider Man for kids which for me is a wee bit unfortunate. I would very much have liked a Peter Parker / Spider Man that behaved like a real superhero instead of this naïve kid who constantly thinks he knows better than the grown ups and, of course, constantly bungles things up. Continue reading Spider Man: No Way Home – Another Spider Man for Kids movie.
Overall it was a enjoyable book. Not more than three stars worth but good enough that I will probably read another book in the series. Continue reading The Devil’s Eye – Urban fantasy detective story, quite okay.
This is a good continuation from the first book in the series. Now the entire MacCumhaill family is in on the druid business and ventures off to Ireland. Of course they stumble over their fair share of unexpected adventure and despicable creatures along the way. Continue reading A Sacred Grove: Good continuation from the first book.
I try to mostly stay out of the political debates since it is way too time consuming and usually attracts a bunch of nutcases screaming nonsense all over the place and telling everyone that do not agree with them that they are acolytes of a certain Bavarian (actually he was Austrian and should not have been allowed to serve in the Bavarian army but who … Continue reading Publishing House Baen Books under attack from the left’s cancel mob.
I have somewhat mixed feelings about this series. One one hand Henry Gallant himself is very competent and generally a likable character. My main gripe with the series is that politics and the plethora of dumbass, egoistic politicians and businesses men not to mention the fact that a large part, not all of it luckily, of the Admiralty is grossly incompetent. Continue reading The Henry Gallant Saga books 2-4: I have mixed feelings about this series.
This is the conclusion of the Alison Brownstone series and I’m tempted to say “finally”. The series started off really nice but I have not felt the same satisfaction with the last few books in the series. Luckily this last book in the series is a quite good one and Alison is more kick-ass than ever. Continue reading Drow Triumphant: Good ending to the series.
This is the sequel to Girl Magic and it is pretty much the same stuff as the first book. It’s simple and fast reading. Lot’s of flashy magic, fast talking and ass kicking. Continue reading Hard Magic: Fun read but still some issues.
This is straightforward military Sci-Fi action and I have to say that I quite liked it.
Continue reading Starfight Series: Good straightforward military Sci-Fi.
This is the 16th book in the Ark Royal series by Christopher Nuttall and I’ve read them all. Pretty much all of them have been 4 or 5 star ones with only two in the 3 star range. Continue reading Fighting for the Crown: Good entry in the Ark Royal series.
These books are a quite fun read. A bit simple perhaps but fun nonetheless. I like that it is a piece of urban fantasy that is not the usual mainstream one. At least not in my experience. Continue reading Transcendent 2-4: Decent enough entertainment.
This is a urban fantasy slash science fiction novel that is a bit outside of the mainstream ones. Overall I did quite like the book. Continue reading Killer Geezer: A somewhat unusual urban fantasy / science fiction novel.
This is a rather simple story. It is more about flashy magic and fantastic creatures than any form of deep story or character development. Continue reading Girl Magic: Entertaining but with some issues.
I have to admit that the title made me procrastinate a bit before I dared open this book. Luckily, as far as I am concerned, the title is a wee bit more ominous than the actual story. Although I guess it is a fitting title for the 13th book in the series if you are inclined towards superstition. Continue reading When Luck Runs Out: A solid entry in the Empire of Bones Saga.
I pretty much read this series end to end in a few days. It is pretty light reading but I have to say that I quite enjoyed it. Continue reading Were Witch books 4-9: I quite enjoyed this series.
I was a bit hesitant at first given how much the book blurb talks about marriage and such like things but with a title like Bad Attitude I just had to give it a try anyway.
It was a good thing that I did. Continue reading WereWitch books 1-3: Fun read.
I almost gave up on this series after the first book but I persisted and in the end I found it to be not great but fairly entertaining after all. Continue reading Rise of the Republic series: Not great but entertaining nonetheless.
It’s not a really bad series and it is definitely read worthy but, it kind of just simmers along and, for much of the series I read it because I really wanted to finish the series in the hope it would kind of take off. Continue reading The School of Necessary Magic Series: Never reaches above 3 out of 5 stars.
I have shitload of excuses for not writing something in a while but they are just that…excuses. I’m way behind with just about everything (I blame the Macronavirus in Paris for a lot of that). Continue reading Long time since I wrote anything but here goes…
When I started the series I felt it had quite a bit of promise. Some people even compared it to the Honor Harrington series. Well, that it is not. Far from it. As a matter of fact I found this series to be quite mediocre. Disappointing even. Continue reading The Jessica Keller Chronicles: Promising start but on the whole rather mediocre series.
I was a bit scared when they announced a new Terminator movie. After all the last couple of movies in this franchise has been less than stellar. I have to say that this one was actually not too bad. Not stellar, it had its issues, but not too bad indeed. Continue reading Terminator Dark fate: Not as bad as I feared.
