I think the first thing that comes to my mind when starting this review is the saying “too many cooks…”. There are no less than three authors listed on this book and, unfortunately, the book was actually a bit of a disappointment.
I could write about Brownstone kicking ass, Shay kicking ass, Bronwstone’s buddies kicking ass, the bantering, how much I like most of the characters and all that. But it would more or less just be a repeat of what I’ve written numerous times already. The series is still going pretty strong.
The last couple of books have been flirting with the realm of science fiction more than fantasy when it comes to the mystery about Brownstone and his famous amulet. This book takes it a bit further and delves a bit deeper into said mystery than previous books.
Well, this was a okay book but I do have to say that it felt inferior to Shayne Silvers other book series. In particular to The Temple Chronicles and Fathers and Fire which are the two from him that I have (currently are) reading.
This book is, again as usual, mostly action of a more or less violent nature. Often more. I do like Nate as well as most of the other characters. Apart from being well done they are also uniquely colorful in various ways.
I am actually struggling a bit to explain, maybe even understand myself, why I could be bothered to read eight books (so far) in this series. It is a classical example of a stereotypical urban fantasy series.
Here is a short resume of the books in my back log which I found somewhat mediocre or not really worth reading at all and for which I simply cannot be bothered to write up a review.
