My latest reads.

Well, as usual I am way behind with my reviews. I had forgotten how time consuming it is to have a girlfriend. Not that that is a bad thing but still, I don’t get as much time to do my usual stuff as I used to. Continue reading My latest reads.

Joker: Is this a bloody joke?

This is going to be one of those posts where I go against the mainstream but my reaction when I watched this movie was: You got to be f… kidding me? Continue reading Joker: Is this a bloody joke?

Steel Dragon: Hmm, not fantastic but not too bad either.

The writing is quite decent and overall this was a rather entertaining book. Not more than 3 out of 5 stars entertaining but still enough for me to put the next one in the series on my to-read list. Continue reading Steel Dragon: Hmm, not fantastic but not too bad either.

Lion King (2019): An exercise in technology that lacks the charm of the original.

This, quite frankly, is one of those remakes that really, in my opinion, serves little purpose. Apart from a show of technology it ads absolutely nothing to the original movie. Rather the inverse. Continue reading Lion King (2019): An exercise in technology that lacks the charm of the original.

End of the year clean up

Here we go again with the usual clean up of reviews that I haven’t gotten around to write and I really wan’t to get them out of the way before the end of the year to nurture the illusion that NEXT year I will start with a clean slate and keep my reading and reviews going. Continue reading End of the year clean up

No Honor in Death: One of the best military sci-fi series I’ve started to read in a long time.

This author has definitely ended up on my top ten list of authors to watch out for. Continue reading No Honor in Death: One of the best military sci-fi series I’ve started to read in a long time.

Dark Phoenix: Not great but not as bad as I feared.

Far from the greatest X-Men movie but it’s not that bad either. Continue reading Dark Phoenix: Not great but not as bad as I feared.

All Quiet on the Second Front?: Solid installment in the series.

This is a solid installment in the series even though, with only about 250 pages, it is perhaps somewhat shorter than most of the previous books. Nevertheless I found the story great. Continue reading All Quiet on the Second Front?: Solid installment in the series.

Godzilla King of the Monsters: Better than the 2014 movie.

If this hadn’t been a cool giant monster movie with a lot of special effects I would have scored it a lot lower. However, I am a sucker for these kinds of movies and I really like Godzilla. Continue reading Godzilla King of the Monsters: Better than the 2014 movie.

John Wick 3 Parabellum: Great although rather unrealistic action.

Let’s make one thing perfectly clear. This is a movie you watch for the action and not much less. But then, that not really a surprise is it? Continue reading John Wick 3 Parabellum: Great although rather unrealistic action.

Shield of Terra: Great 2nd installment in the Light of Terra series.

So, obviously, I really liked this book. It is a bit of a mix between political power play and good old-fashioned “communication” with battleship guns. Continue reading Shield of Terra: Great 2nd installment in the Light of Terra series.

Cauldron of Fire & Dauntless: My kind of military sci-fi.

This series is, possibly with the exception of Echoes of Glory, really my kind of military science fiction. They do not really manage to get to a five out of five rating but they are mostly solid four out of five star ones. Continue reading Cauldron of Fire & Dauntless: My kind of military sci-fi.

Apart from the unbelievable monstrosity, the story is not really bad. Overall I have to say that I enjoyed the book even though it had some flaws. Continue reading From Hell: Neither good nor bad installment in the Alex Hunter series.

The Messenger: Decent sci-fi adventure.

Legacy Fleet Series 1-6: Quite a disappointment.

Unfortunately I have to say that, as a whole, this series was quite a disappointment. It started off reasonably well and I was quite exited as the prospect of a new fleet action series with a outstanding hero kicking alien arse. Then it started to go downhill. Continue reading Legacy Fleet Series 1-6: Quite a disappointment.

Semper Fi: The story of the series is bit weird but fairly entertaining read.

The story of the entire series is doubtlessly a bit weird. I mean, an alien machine race opposed to all (biological) life wants to destroy humanity so it turns some of them into super-humans. Weird right? Continue reading Semper Fi: The story of the series is bit weird but fairly entertaining read.

Welcome to my blog.

This is a non-professional hobby blog where I ramble about things I like to ramble about.

Mostly it is book reviews, a few movie reviews and sometimes about computers, gadgets and software.

The reviews are strictly my opinion (non-professional remember?) on what I have read or watched.
