What the f… Microsoft?

Warning, this is one of those rant posts of mine. Rude language ahead… I know that Microsoft sucks since that fucker Nadella took over and completely screwed over their mobile eco-system. Not only cancelling Windows Phone and pissing on their fans but Surface is now completely useless as a tablet as well which means that Nadella made an Android user out of me, a former … Continue reading What the f… Microsoft?

Windows April update, another disappointing update from Microsoft

So, I have now spent around a month and a half with the April update of Microsoft Windows. The overall verdict is one of utter disappointment. I cannot say that I am surprised of course since one of my devices is running the insider builds since some time so I knew what I was getting, and also, we old Windows customers have learned to not … Continue reading Windows April update, another disappointing update from Microsoft

Windows 10 Creators Update – Seriously Microsoft?

Being a long time Windows user and fan (not sure I know why any more though) I of course used the Windows Update Advisor to get the Creators update as soon as it was available. Not that there was any surprises of course. As a Windows Insider I already had it installed on one of my devices and so I knew what it contained. Anyway, since the update now has gone public I thought it was time for another of my rants about Microsoft. Continue reading Windows 10 Creators Update – Seriously Microsoft?

Fed up with f… bloatware ?

Be warned, this is another one of my rant posts. Rude words can be expected.

Fed up with fucking bloatware? Well I for one is really tired of all the fucking bloatware that manufacturers install on their devices before shipping them. It is sooo tiresome to have to spend hours to clean up your new device the first thing you do. And sometimes the manufacturers try to prevent you from removing their crap as well!

Tired of Windows 10’s abysmal tiles ?

Windows 10’s tiles are abysmal. Not the ones that comes from pure apps pinned to the start page or menu (mostly at least) but the ones coming from pinning URL’s or folder locations. Since Microsoft Edge was introduced most pinned URL’s simply shows the Edge icon and grabs the, often way too long, page title from the site. To make matters worse you cannot change the icon nor the title as you can do with a normal desktop shortcut. Continue reading Tired of Windows 10’s abysmal tiles ?

Windows 10 November Update, another disappointing delivery from Microsoft!

So the Windows 10 November update is here. I finally got it on all my devices. I should probably say that I am surprised of the lack of actual substance in this update but unfortunately that would be a lie given Microcrap’s track record lately. There is little improvement in this update. It appears that Microsoft is totally ignoring most of the actual issues with … Continue reading Windows 10 November Update, another disappointing delivery from Microsoft!

What the f… kind of idiots have taken over Microsoft?

Now Microsoft have decided to cancel the unlimited OneDrive storage citing that a few people were abusing it. Seriously Microsoft, did you fire all your PR people in the latest batch of layoffs? How f… dumb are you? Are you going to tell the world that you where to dumb to realise that people was actually going to use your unlimited offer? Then to add to the insult to your users you are going to punish everyone for the acts of a few people? This is quite frankly unbelievable! […] Continue reading What the f… kind of idiots have taken over Microsoft?

Reinstalling (resetting) Windows is another thing Microsoft messed up in Windows 10

After several weeks with loads of issues with this unfinished OS that Microsoft shoved out the door prematurely I decided to reinstall Windows 10 on my tablets from the start to get a clean install. What I had installed on my tablets before was the (recommended) update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had come to the conclusion that not only is this operating system … Continue reading Reinstalling (resetting) Windows is another thing Microsoft messed up in Windows 10

AMIDuOS – The first Android emulator for Windows that I have found to actually work well.

Thanks to the shoddy state of Windows 10 I got into a foul mode the other day and decided to take a spin around and test a few Android emulators for Windows just for fun. I have tried a few of them before, especially Bluestacks, and never really found them to be of much use. There are a few apps (Amazon, Comixology in particular) though that I … Continue reading AMIDuOS – The first Android emulator for Windows that I have found to actually work well.

Got the first Windows 10 post-launch update. Made no visible difference to me. Windows 10 is still a mess!

Personally I consider this operating system an unfinished product at best and some of the design decisions and changes from Windows 8 simply do not make sense. They are certainly not improvements. Right now I feel that Android have a more consistent and better working user interface on touch devices and I do not like Android very much so you can imagine how disappointed I am with Windows 10 so far. […] Continue reading Got the first Windows 10 post-launch update. Made no visible difference to me. Windows 10 is still a mess!

Unbelievable, Microsoft uses YOUR bandwidth to deliver updates to other people.

To me this is bloody unbelievable. I recently discovered that Microsoft, without telling you, is enabling a torrent style way of delivering updates to everyone. That means that, once you have downloaded an update your Windows installation will start to use your hardware as a node from which it delivers the update to other people. For Microsoft this is of course perfect since it will … Continue reading Unbelievable, Microsoft uses YOUR bandwidth to deliver updates to other people.

Windows 10 – This is a mess and certainly not an improvement!

I got the update notification for Windows 10 on my Surface Pro 3 two days ago and naturally I could not resist but scheduled it to update immediately. I had been quite looking forward to getting my hands on the release version of it due to all the hype around it. I did not really want to mess around with the alpha and beta versions so … Continue reading Windows 10 – This is a mess and certainly not an improvement!

(Updated) What the f… Samsung? There is no way I am going to trust a Samsung product for a long time now!

What kind of idiots are running large corporations nowadays? Is there really no one in the management chain with a least a minimum amount of common sense? Also, do said idiots live in some kind of bubble where they never receive real life news so that they can learn from other people’s mistakes? You can probably guess from the title of this post that I am … Continue reading (Updated) What the f… Samsung? There is no way I am going to trust a Samsung product for a long time now!

Deezer Elite service, what are they thinking?

A few days ago Deezer launched their Elite service in Europe. On the surface it sounds great. For an additional subscription fee you get lossless 1411 kbps FLAC instead of the 320 kbps MP3 you get with the standard service. At least I would be quite interested in this. Especially when syncing music to various devices with the Deezer app. However, in reality, the service … Continue reading Deezer Elite service, what are they thinking?

Microsoft’s search indexer ate my hard drive!

Recently I was starting to get low on space on the boot drive of my desktop PC. The boot drive is a 128 Gb SDD so there is not that much space on it. Most of my stuff is kept on my second drive which is a 2 Tb traditional disk drive. Unfortunately there are some stuff, especially with Windows 8 that you do not … Continue reading Microsoft’s search indexer ate my hard drive!

Windows installation pains and bloody bloatware!

With all the news about Lenovo’s embarrassing, not to mention infuriating, bloat- and hackware debacle lately I have been quite happy that I already had my PC’s bought, installed and cleaned up since some time. Well, that was until now. My second son’s birthday is nearing and when my first son was of the age that my second one is becoming then he got his … Continue reading Windows installation pains and bloody bloatware!

Finally got my Lumia Denim update. Not at all very impressed. Actually I am rather pissed off!

Yesterday the Denim update finally popped up on my Lumia 925. As usual with phone updates I installed it pretty much right away. I cannot say that there was an enormous amount of features in it that I was waiting for. At last not that I knew of from reading about the update. Quite honestly the only thing that I was looking forward to was … Continue reading Finally got my Lumia Denim update. Not at all very impressed. Actually I am rather pissed off!

Comixology finally came out with an update that fixes…nothing!

Comixology must have the worst developers and the worst quality control of any software provider that I have personally come across. I was about to write the worst support as well but unfortunately support is generally outsourced and universally a total joke nowadays so the winner of that competition is not so clear cut. Anyway, yesterday Comixology updated their app in the Windows 8 app … Continue reading Comixology finally came out with an update that fixes…nothing!

Trakt.tv usable again. Actually it is starting to look quite good.

Yesterday the Trakt.tv team finally brought back the ability to add and remove shows from your custom lists. This was the remaining major omission on the new site for me. Sure there are still plenty of minor annoying things, like rendering on IE 11 for instance which is not always good and even the list editing is only half implemented but for all intents and … Continue reading Trakt.tv usable again.
