Black Widow: Plenty of stupid choices but fairly entertaining nonetheless.

Black Widow by Cate Shortland on Blu-ray 4K.
My rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 1/2 out of 5 stars.

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger

Well, I have to confess that I found this movie fairly entertaining despite the fact that there have been more than a few stupid decisions made when making it.

The first stupid decision is of course to decide to do and release this movie now when other movies in the Marvel universe has already established a not so happy ending for the Black Widow. I can only see the decision to make this movie as a obvious attempt to squeeze some more money out of the franchise.

Then why turn the Red Solder into a blabbering, boring and annoying idiot? Was this just to satisfy Disney’s constantly screaming woke brigade? We cannot have a competent man challenging the, for being a superhero, rather mediocre Black Widow for supremacy can we?

When there was some action going on the movie was rather entertaining. That’s one thing Hollywood still knows how to do fairly well. It’s a Marvel story so of course the action is outrageously exaggerated and unrealistic but it’s fun to watch.

There were a few moment when the movie slowed down with some unnecessary scenes of whining, self pity and the world is not fair rubbish but overall there was enough action going on to compensate for that.

The main bad-guy was rather lacking any karma and this nonsense with “feremones” was exactly the type of unrealistic and silly crap you expect from a uneducated Hollywood script writer. The design of this bad guys sky fortress was equally nonsensical. The heliocarrier used in other movies at least made some attempt at realism. And for crying out loud. How many times did we see the engines blow up and the damned thing was still flying long enough for them to complete all the stunt scenes. Yes, yes, I know it is Marvel and science fiction but I whish they would at least pretend to make something have some semblance of realism.

Still, as I wrote earlier, I nevertheless really enjoyed when the Black Widow and her sister ran around kicking ass, the car/tank/bike chases and all that stuff. Yes, I even enjoyed the flying brick being blown up.
