I have shitload of excuses for not writing something in a while but they are just that…excuses. I’m way behind with just about everything (I blame the Macronavirus in Paris for a lot of that). Not just reviews. I naively though that my estimate of 130 books was conservative (I read 151 books last year) but I’m 12 books behind on my Goodreads reading challenge already.
Anyway, I’m trying to catch on and I got a few moments today (on vacation with the kids) so here goes. This is not going to be about books though but about the last couple of movies that I’ve watched. Being with the kids means movie watching and I’m quite happy with that.
The 5th Wave ⭐ ⭐ 1/2 out of 5 star
I’m not going to write much about this one. It’s mediocre at best.
I was actually surprised by this one. It’s actually a pretty good movie. I usually do not like Jim Carrey (tooo much excessive insanity) but he was not bad at all in this context.
It’s a pretty good family movie actually. I’m sure that die hard fans of Sonic will complain that it’s not following canon or something like that but honestly I don’t care.
Frozen II ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 1/2 out of 5 stars
This is a good Disney movie and I am happy that there was really not that much SWJ crap in it. Sure, the bad guy was predictable and I’m sure that if you want to see some social message in it you can.
I enjoyed it at least.
Dolittle ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars
Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, I quite liked this one. Again, there’s not really that much SJW crap in it (unless you want to find it) and the talking animals where actually quite fun.
I think this one is a pretty good family movie. Robert Downey Jr is making a good character although his (temporary) insanity is a wee bit annoying at first.
The fact that Rotten Biased Left Wing Tomatoes gives it 14% while their own audience gives it 76% makes me liking it even more sweet of course :-).
I really do not understand why that piece of [censored] site still exist. It’s a left wing propaganda site that has nothing to do with movies. Don’t (the majority, I’m excluding democratic left wing fanatics here) of people react to the fact that the sites ratings are more often than not far off from what the audience actually think?
1917 ⭐ 1/2 out of 5 stars
In one word…boring. Yes cinematically it’s a great movie but the story is downright boring and oftentimes illogical.
I’m going to go against popular opinion on this one.
Bad Boys ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars
This is a bit of a old one but I quite like it. It’s cool. Especially now in the Democrat’s cancel culture It felt good to watch a movie where the police was the good guys.
I actually watched this one because I bought Bad Boys For Life on 4K Blu-ray. I haven’t watch that one yet but I kind of wanted to (re)watch the entire trilogy in order.
Birds of Prey ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 stars
I quite liked this one. I was a bit worried after the absolutely disastrous Joker but this one was not trying too be a psychological thriller (that had nothing to do with the actually Joker character) but just tried to entertain.
And it was indeed entertaining.
Bad Boys II ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 1/2 out of 5 stars
Working myself up to the last movie in the trilogy. Good movie but detective Burnett kind of pissed me of with his whining and constant screwing up.
The last part with the attack on the main asswipe’s “stronghold” was really great. I was hoping for a less swift end for said asshole though.
Well that’s about it for this time. I have about 20+ book to review as well. I hope I get around to it soon. This is the last week of my holidays with the kids so I’m going to concentrate on that for now.
I remember watching the Bad Boys movies and preferring the first one too. 😉 And if it’s any consolation, apparently I’m 25 books behind for Goodreads.
